Shed, garage and deck removal in Manotick
Large Manotick lots collect outbuildings: a tired garage, a sagging garden shed, a deck that has seen thirty winters. We take them down, haul every board and rake the ground.

What the work looks like in Manotick
Properties around the village and out along the side roads often have more than one outbuilding, and some went up long before anyone pulled a permit. At the site visit we look at the footing, the siding and the roof, because older outbuildings with cement-board or asphalt siding need testing before demolition.
Septic beds are the main hazard on these jobs. We confirm where the bed is and plan a route for the trailer that stays off it, even if that means a longer carry.
The village core around Watson’s Mill has some of the oldest houses in the south end, and many properties outside the core are on private wells and septic systems. More about Manotick

Before work starts in Manotick
The City requires a permit to demolish a building or structure, and its demolition page lists barns and silos as exceptions. A storage shed of 15 m² or less with no plumbing does not need a permit to build (ottawa.ca), but that exemption is about construction, so we confirm what applies to your structure at the site visit. Wired garages and sheds need an electrician to make the power safe first.
Near the Rideau River, check with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority before taking down any structure close to the shoreline or floodplain. Rural lots need the same City demolition permit and utility clearances as urban ones.
Any building from before 1990 gets a hazardous materials survey first. If it finds asbestos or other designated substances, abatement is referred to licensed specialists, and our crew starts after the clearance letter.
Disposal
Torn out. Hauled out.
Every job ends ready for the next trade. Here is where the debris goes.
Wood, shingles, metal and siding are separated where the site allows. Metal goes to scrap, concrete pads go to aggregate recycling, and mixed debris goes to a licensed sorting facility.
On larger jobs, a roll-off bin from a licensed bin company sits on your property, and the bin company hauls it away and handles the tipping at its own facility.
On smaller jobs our crew loads our own trucks and hauls to the Tomlinson Waste Recovery Centre at 106 Westhunt Drive in Carp, which sorts mixed construction and demolition debris for recycling and accepts commercial loads.
Manotick is our home base. Bins sit on the driveway well clear of the septic bed, and on smaller jobs debris rides back on our trucks the same day.

Asbestos & permits
We don’t touch asbestos. That’s the point.
Some demolition companies will tell you they do it all. We do the demolition, and we make sure the steps before it happen in the right order, by the right people: survey first, licensed abatement, then us.
Read the asbestos and permit FAQ- Built before 1990? Ontario law puts the onus on the owner to identify designated substances before a contract is signed. That means a designated-substances survey.
- Survey finds asbestos? A licensed abatement contractor removes it, and you get a clearance letter.
- Utilities and permit. Gas, hydro, water and sewer disconnected where needed. Enbridge alone takes about 44 days, so it gets requested first.
- Then we demolish. No change orders for surprise asbestos, no stop-work orders, no crew exposed.
FAQ
Shed, deck & garage demolition in Manotick: questions
Does a shed demolition in Manotick need a permit?
The City needs a permit to demolish most buildings. Barns and silos are listed exceptions, and very small sheds are a grey area, so we tell you what we see at the site visit and you confirm with 3-1-1 before we book.
Can you take the concrete pad too?
Yes, if you want it gone. Pads and footings are quoted separately because concrete is heavy and goes to a different recycling stream.
Can you work near the river?
Yes, once you have confirmed with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority that the work does not need their permission, or you have it. Structures near the shoreline are where that question comes up.
Is Manotick inside your normal service area?
Manotick is our home base, so it is the simplest place for us to schedule a site visit or a job.
